About Us
In today's busy world with many families having both parents working, or a single parent
juggling work, life and family, the Poughkeepsie Day Nursery has expanded its services
to involve the whole family. Parenting workshops are offered throughout the year and all
are welcome.
We are proud to be recognized as one of the
oldest Early Care and Education Centers in the nation and are currently
serving our third generation of children. The Poughkeepsie Day Nursery
provides a Creative Curriculum combined with an atmosphere
of three L's: Love, Laughter and Learning,
to help our children develop into well adjusted, responsible, productive adults. The
curriculum provides meaningful experiences in a safe, nuturing atmosphere. Every child is
encouraged to do their best and to develop a love for learning.
The philosophy at the Poughkeespie Day Nursery is that children can learn
through play. The Creative Curriculum environment allows children
to explore, develop, and begin a lifetime love of learning. Hands-on
activities and open-ended projects stimulate a child's curiousity and build
self-esteem. Our exciting curriculum allows the opportunity for children to develop eye/hand
coordination and to develop fine motor skills. An atmosphere of our three " L's ",
Love, Laughter and Learning prevails. The Poughkeepsie Day Nursery believes that parents
are their children's primary teacher and strives to make the Nursery an extension of their
children's homes. By virtue of this philosphical vision we have maintained a
reputation for safe, quality Early Care and Education in our community for over 100
years.
